How to Create a Custom Footer with the Divi Builder
A Child theme with a footer.php file. If your Child Theme doesn’t have one simply copy and paste it from the original Divi theme folder.
If you don’t have a Child Theme yet check out this guide
1. Creating the Footer
Let’s start by going into the Divi Library under : Divi -> Divi Library from your WordPress dashboard.
Press on Add New.
On the Template Name write down the desired name for your footer.
On the Template Type select Section.
Marking it as a Global Item is not necessary, I had it done and that’s why in the picture below you will see the builder all green instead of having the regular purple / green / grey colors.
Now create your footer with the Divi builder. In my case I will use the footer of my site.
2. Tracking the ID of the Section
Once your footer is finished press on save, now take a look at the URL search bar of your browser, you will see something like this:
As you can see in the text above the ID of my section is 1916 , grab your own ID numbers and copy paste them wherever, can be a note or a paper.
3. Placing the Footer
Go to your Child Theme files and open your Footer.php.
Between the line 9 and 10 make a new line and copy the next code:
Change the ID number for your own one.
Congrats you have your custom Footer 🙂
